An armed teenager, Andrew Thomas Herrera, attempted to rob a Texas Popeyes restaurant and pointed his gun at a man's children. The father, who was a licensed concealed carrier, defended his family and shot the robber five times, killing him. Herrera's mother, Cynthia Ruiz, questioned why the father had to shoot her son "four more times" instead of once. Police confirmed that Herrera may have been involved in several robberies prior to the incident. While sympathizing with the mother's loss, the father's actions were justified as he was protecting his own children.
