Mourners at a wake in Ecuador were shocked when the 76-year-old woman they thought was dead began banging on her coffin. Bella Montoya had been declared dead four hours earlier, with a medical examiner providing a death certificate stating that she had died of cardiorespiratory arrest. However, during the vigil, Montoya regained consciousness, and medics were called to tend to her. She is now in stable condition in hospital. Her son described the incident as a "miracle from God" but is coming to terms with what happened. Ecuador's Ministry of Health has assigned a team to investigate the error.
