Leroy Rucker, a homeowner in Pennsylvania, was watching TV with his pit bull Spuds when an alleged burglar, Robert Burke Jr., burst into the house. Rucker engaged Burke in a fight, and when Spuds saw his owner in trouble, he joined in to protect the family. Burke surrendered when he saw Spuds ready to defend his owner. Police arrived to find Burke calmly submitting in the living room as Spuds detained him for 20 minutes until officers arrived. Burke was charged with burglary, criminal trespass, simple assault, and harassment, and Spuds became a local celebrity for his heroic actions.
