A woman named Marissa Young was brutally attacked and raped while walking her dogs in a Los Angeles neighborhood. The assailant, who had been released from jail just hours earlier, assaulted Marissa from behind, beating and strangling her. In an attempt to defend herself, Marissa bit the attacker's penis, but it only further angered him. The assault lasted for about 30 minutes before the attacker finally let her go. Marissa, bloodied and injured, sought help from a nearby home. She suffered multiple injuries, including broken bones and missing teeth, and required several surgeries. The alleged attacker, Darrell Waters, was later arrested and charged with multiple felonies. A GoFundMe campaign was started to support Marissa's living and medical expenses.
