Levi Axtell, a father from Minnesota, confessed to killing convicted sex offender Lawrence Scully, whom he believed had stalked his toddler daughter. Scully had served only three years for molesting a six-year-old girl in 1979 and was facing allegations of sexual misconduct with minors again in 2018. Axtell suspected Scully of stalking children at daycare centres and sought an order of protection against him. When the order was rescinded, Axtell took matters into his own hands, admitting to police that he beat Scully with a shovel and a large moose antler. While some have hailed Axtell as a hero, others argue he should not have taken the law into his own hands.
