College Basketball Players Ignore Warning Not To Kneel At Game
20/06/2023
Players from Bluefield College men’s basketball team decided to kneel during the National Anthem as a form of protest against racial injustice. However, the college president, David Olive, suspended multiple players and eventually forfeited a game due to their refusal to stop kneeling. Olive stated that their method of protest is controversial and upsetting to many, and it could further divide the already fractured country. Although Olive acknowledged the players’ perspectives, he believed the location wasn’t an appropriate platform for protest and that the message would be lost on their audience. The players were upset with Olive’s decision but were warned about the consequences of their actions.
