29/06/2023

Addison Bethea, a 17-year-old girl from Florida, was attacked by a 9-foot bull shark while swimming off the coast of Keaton Beach. The shark bit her right thigh and inflicted severe injuries. Addison fought back by punching the shark's nose, gouging its eyes, and grabbing its jaws and teeth. Her brother, Rhett Willingham, bravely intervened, separating Addison from the shark and saving her life. He created a makeshift tourniquet and kept her awake until they reached a nearby boat. Despite having her leg amputated, Addison remains determined and has received a custom-made prosthetic leg. She continues to inspire others with her positive attitude and encourages beach safety awareness.
