Utah widow Kouri Richins, who recently authored a book on coping with the loss of a loved one, has been charged with first-degree aggravated murder and three counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute. After allegedly purchasing and administering lethal amounts of fentanyl to her husband Eric, Richins claimed to have found him unresponsive in their bedroom that same night.

Citing medical examiners, the prosecution alleges Eric died of a fentanyl overdose, having had five times the lethal dose in his system. Prior to his death, Eric's family reportedly warned he told them that if anything happened to him, Richins was to blame.
