Letecia Stauch, a 39-year-old woman, has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for the murder of her 11-year-old stepson, Gannon Stauch. She was convicted of first-degree murder and several other charges, including tampering with evidence.

Despite claiming she suffered from dissociative identity disorder due to childhood sexual abuse, Stauch was declared sane at the time of the crime. She was accused of stabbing Gannon 18 times, hitting him in the head, and shooting him. His body was found in a suitcase below a bridge in Florida. The judge said Stauch deserved the maximum sentence under Colorado law for her conduct.
