Spring is upon us, and with it comes a new set of gardening challenges. In this guide, Jack and I will walk you through seven common pests you might encounter this season and provide tips on how to prevent and manage them effectively. From aphids to leaf miners, we’ve got you covered.
1. Aphids: The Classic Garden Menace
Aphids are perhaps the most notorious garden pests. With over 250 species, these small, pear-shaped insects are known for sucking the life out of plants, causing damage like leaf curl, yellowing, and wilting. They often appear on new, tender growth and are particularly attracted to plants under stress—whether from over-fertilization, lack of water, or other issues.
Control Methods:
Manual Removal: For a small infestation, simply remove affected leaves.
Water Blast: Use a hose with a cone setting to blast aphids off your plants. This method can be combined with hard pruning to encourage new growth.
